Lexie's Chain: The Thirteenth Chain

Hello ma pals! Welcome to Week 13 of #Lexieschain. Annuva great week for suggeschuns! Keep em comin pals, dis be great fun!

Dis week it woz down to our pal ...Lexie (oh wait dat be me) to make da decishun. So let's see how it went! Here was da entries for dis week:

@borderpup chose Randy Scouse Git by The Monkees. Why? Because Harry Nilsson wrote the moosical The Point wot mum did see starring Micky Dolenz who was in The Monkees and wrote dis song!

@diamondbertie chose Midnight in Moscow by Kenny Ball. Why? I think of the movie Midnight Cowboy and Kenny's song has Midnight in the title.

@Tartan_Terriers chose Harry's Game by Clannad. Why? Because Everybody's Talkin' is sung by a Harry!

@Bvjeyj chose Who Are You by The Who? Why? Because Keith Moon (da drummer ob da Who) also died in Nilsson's London flat 3 weeks after da album "Who Are You" was released. Nilsson was so upset by the death that he then sold the flat (to another member ob da Who, Pete Townsend).

@Marleyterrier chose Norwegian Wood (love this tune!) by John Lennon. Why? Nilsson spent two years wiv John Lennon on famuss "lost weekend" and we needs no excuses at all to be earin some John Lennon.

@Kelsoterrier chose Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. Why? Because Monkeys
love bananas, no wait, ;-) Because both songs appealed to the disaffected youth of the time and were seminal songs of their generation. And also because Harry Nilsson and Kurt Cobain both died in 1994.

They was all brilliant and I did av ard time choosin da winner. Pfttt but in da end the winner ...... as chosen by @DJLadyLexie (aka me) and suggested by ...... @borderpup   ....... is ........ Randy Scouse Git by The Monkees!

The year: 1967
The song: Randy Scouse Git
Artist: The Monkees

Week 10: Daydream by The Lovin' Spoonful. Whatever Lola Wants is from the broadway musical, Damn Yankees. One of the main characters in the musical is called Joe Hardy and he gets a nickname in the musical of 'Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, MO' (MO as in Missouri). That nickname is a reference to the real 'Shoeless Joe Jackson', the famous baseball player. The movie Field of Dreams was based on the book Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella. 'Daydream' by The Lovin' Spoonful was on the movie soundtrack.

Week 9: Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets by Della Reeves. Mustang Sally is supposedly based on Della Reeves wanting a new Mustang. The character of Mustang Sally did exactly what she pleased. The character of Lola, from the musical Damn Yankees, is another woman who gets exactly what she wants.

Week 8: Mustang Sally by The Commitments (not original). Because they was also singing Chain of Fools in dat movie and soundtrack.

Week 7: Chain of Fools by Aretha Franklin. Aretha like Chuck Berry is in da Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and as da song says - she is just a link in your chain!

Week 6: Johnny B.Goode by Chuck Berry. Down Under on Business as Usual album; another track on the Men At Work album is Be Good Johnny a reference to my link.

Week 5: Down Under - Men At Work (Let's Dance video is set in Australia, the land Down Under. David Bowie and Men at Work have both been involved in "sampling" scandals - Men at Work "stole" flute riff in Down Under from children's song and Vanilla Ice "stole" riff from Bowie & Mercury's Under Pressure).

Week 4: Let's Dance - David Bowie (David Bowie Let's Dance album title/track title same as Eurythmics Sweet Dreams track from Sweet Dreams album/track title and also released 1983).

Week 3: Sweet Dreams - Eurythmics (Dave Stewart produced Feargal Sharkey's (from The Undertones) solo album. He was in the Eurythmics).
