Dis week it woz down to our pal ...Indie (aka @borderpup) to make da decishun. So let's see how it went! Here was da entries for dis week:

@Fizzlebear chose The Thrills by Big Sur. Why? Because it contains the lines 'hey, hey you're the monkees, people said you monkeyed around'.

@bvfeyj (aka Tucker) chose Different Drum by The Stone Poneys. Why? Cuz Mike Nesmith was a member ob da Monkees and he wrote Different Drum"which became a hit for da Stone Poneys and launched Linda Rondstat's solo career.

@Tartan_Terriers chose We Cry by The Script. Why? Cos The Monkees apparently wrote the script for modern day pop music...or so we read anyway!

@i_am_fuzzy chose Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon by Neil Diamond. Why? Because The Monkees recorded a few of Neil Diamond's songs including I'm A Believer.

@Millie_dog chose You are my Love by Liverpool Express. Why? Because Scousers are from Liverpool and a randy scouser might say "you are my love" to someone!

@DJLadyLexie chose Lip Up Fatty by Bad Manners. Why? They did a cover of Scouse Git by The Monkees.

One of the main characters in the musical is called Joe Hardy and he gets a nickname in the musical of 'Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, MO' (MO as in Missouri). That nickname is a reference to the real 'Shoeless Joe Jackson', the famous baseball player. The movie Field of Dreams was based on the book Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella. 'Daydream' by The Lovin' Spoonful was on the movie soundtrack.

Week 9: Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets by Della Reeves. Mustang Sally is supposedly based on Della Reeves wanting a new Mustang. The character of Mustang Sally did exactly what she pleased. The character of Lola, from the musical Damn Yankees, is another woman who gets exactly what she wants.

David Bowie and Men at Work have both been involved in "sampling" scandals - Men at Work "stole" flute riff in Down Under from children's song and Vanilla Ice "stole" riff from Bowie & Mercury's Under Pressure).

Week 4: Let's Dance - David Bowie (David Bowie Let's Dance album title/track title same as Eurythmics Sweet Dreams track from Sweet Dreams album/track title and also released 1983).
