Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Twenty First Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 121 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Satellite of Love by Lou Reed. So lets see wot we got dis week.

@diamondbertie
Last week the winner was Satellite of Love by Lou Reed I put my thinking cap on, I listened to the song very carefully the lady in question was THE satellite of love. I thought of earlier satellites and one of the first was Telstar, this captured the imagination of everyone and the Tornados brought out the single Telstar. That is my choice, Telstar by the Tornados.

@bvfeyj
Me does fink dere be a very obvious link dis week and me hope we not hab a dozen ob dis entry.. We is linking to Lexie's brilliant winner "Satellite of Love" by Lou Reed. My link does be a song dat was #1 in boaf da US & UK. Me say what better link dan a song dat was composed and named fur a satellite! Telstar by The Tornados.

@terenceterrier
Your winning linky was “Satellite Of Love” by Lou Reed wot be a favorite of mums. So I choose for my linky “Telstar” by The Tornados. It iz an instrumental track wiv space sounds on it about the Telstar communications satellite wot woz launched shortly before dis track was writted. It woz da best selling single of 1962 & we haz it in da record rack *proud ears*. Dis probly be da prototype techo track (take note Lexie’s Dad). Telstar 1 & 2 are still in orbit so give them a paw wave as they goes past.

@freddie_bt
Da inspirashun for "Satellite of Love" came fwom Lou Reed watching a space satellite launch on tv. David Bowie sang backing vocals on da song n he also starred in a film about an alien from space called "The Man Who Fell to Earth" which wuz directed by Nic Roeg. Big Audio Dynamite da band which Mick Jones formed after leaving da Clash recorded a song called "E=MC2" which wuz about Nic Roeg films including wefewences to "Performance" which provided da sampled vocals, "Don't Look Now" n "The Man Who Fell to Earth" which features prominently in the song's video. So here's our linky "E=MC2" by Big Audio Dynamite. Sadly tho Don Letts still looks da same Mick Jones is no longer the sneering punk rocker but looks like he's impersonating Arthur, Olive's husband in On the Buses for anyone dat wemembers da old sitcom.

Congrats to Lexie Again. You rock this game. "Satellite of Love" was released on Transformer in 1972. The album was produced by David Bowie & Mick Ronson who was the lead guitarist for Bowie at that time. 1972 also saw the release of Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

Ziggy Stardust was a concept album of a spaceman sending messages to the world through a rock star. Supposedly Bowie created Ziggy as a blending of the persona of Iggy Pop & the music of Lou Reed. Starman.

@bunnersandharvs
Well dun to da supa star Lexie. She is a cleva paw! So we been thinking bout dat LouLou Reed and Venus & furs and transformers and satellites and wot not. Sooo afta all dat we thort dis our seleckshun and da why is furst: did you know dat David Bowie did produce dat Transformers album fur Lou? He did and well David Bowie dus also be one dat dus be as diverse as dey come in da moosic wurld and da other pawts of da universe too - hee hee. So da singy a songy we going wif dis week is ..... 'Life On Mars'. Yay!!

@smcheetham
Hi everyone well done Lexie for winning with Lou Reed now lots of clues given that we should choose techno to secure a win. I am afraid that defeated me so gone in another direction entirely. I have used the fact that LouReed was in Velvet Underground as was John Cale and my fave song by John Cale is Fear is a Mans Best Friend so that's my suggestion.

@kelsoterrier
Hmm, satellite of love you say. Ok, well two doggies who were very much in love were lady and the tramp. Tramp rhymes with ramp and if the tramp had a ramp and superpowers he may be able to visit a satellite in space - he would be a supertramp. One of supertramp's most famous songs was The Logical Song. This link is not logical but it leads me to Scooter's song wot be Ramp! (The Logical Song) ;-)

@wonderwinger
Aha Lexie, it was noted that there was a request from the judge to link Lou Reed up with something dancey, technoey or Girls Aloudy. Ever the "obedient" paw I shall of course oblige.

My link is Out of Space by The Prodigy. The reason being Satellites whether they be Love ones, spy ones or TV ones all live in Outer Space. If you come from Souf' Eas' Lundun, like my humum, Out er Space would be how you'd pronounce the title (although she went to Pony Club so learnt poshspeak).

An ............. da winner dis week .... as chosen by dad ............. dus be ................ @kelsoterrier wiv Ramp! The linky made him laugh out loud an of course is a blindin bit of techno (his words). Plus (wiv an evil dad laugh) he said how on earth can any of your pals find a link to that!!!!

Dad said he was torn between the linky wot he chosed and of course, his beloved Prodigy! He had a good dance round to dat one anyway ;). so a very close second for Briar!

Now is time to get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you again Kelso.

It's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! Might be slight delay as we is movin dat weekend! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 19 May 2013 (gots to get it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title!

Lexie's Chain dus be inspired by da pawsome Radcliffe & Maconie Show wot you can has a listen to on dere website. Follow me @dogstoyevsky or #lexieschain on Twitter to join da fun. Remember anyfink goes! Rock, classical, opera, ballads, punk, reggae - is up to you! Fanx for playin!
