Lexie's Chain: The Hundred And Sixty Sixth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 166 of #lexieschain. Last week da winner was Terence wiv Lawrence of Arabia feem toon. Let's see wot we gots dis week:

@skye613
Well done Terence! Magnificent score and movie. Lawrence of Arabia was released in 1962 when I was just starting to really listen to music. From the deserts and horses to the jungle and lions. This is the very first 45 RPM ( Anyone remember these? ) I bought with my own money in 1962.

@freddie_bt
Congratulations to Terence fer a super winning entry. Before WW1 Lawrence disembarked n stayed in Beirut during 2 lengthy trips to da Middle East to study culture n archaeology. His hope in WW1 wuz fer Arab unity n fer a long time Lebanon was peaceful, Beirut wuz prosperous n young n old, Christians n Muslims enjoyed life. This changed wiv da Civil War which still scars Beirut. Our linky is a lament for dat lost Beirut life, now sadly it could equally apply to Cairo, Damascus, Aleppo. Singin da hauntin "Beirut" is da beautiful Lebanese singer Yasmine Hamdan.

@diamondbertie
These weeks come round very fast. Last weeks winner was @terenceterrier with the music from Lawrence of Arabia by Maurice Jarre, it was so evocative of the desert and its beauty, my choice is also by Maurice Jarre the main theme of Doctor Zhivago, a fantastic film and the music capture perfectly the frozen desert of Siberia and the conflict of the Russian Revolution.

@bunnersandharvs
Well here's a very big and hoooge well dun to Terence fur his eggcellent linky last week. Laurence of Arabia's theme toons. Now your selecshun was cos you thort about deserts and your selecshun made us think about war and da struggles hoomans has because of it. So, dis also made us think about another moovie about war called Apocolypse Now which dus be all about the Vietnam War. So and well and one of da theme songs in da moovie and apparently a theme fur dem troops in Vietnam was 'I Can't Get No Satisfaction' by da Rolling Stones so dat is our linky! Have a grrreaat time choosing Terence.

@WOtterface
OK, Lawrence of Arabia was born in Tremadog, Wales. And the lovely lady Duffy was too (or thereabouts) so we're going for Duffy and 'Mercy'. Not too complicated this week.

@maggietkat
Well done Terence! Mom recalls seeing the second release of Lawrence of Arabia in high school, so this brought back a flood of memories. The film took home 10 Academy awards, 5 British film awards, and 6 Golden Globes, including the Oscar for Best Picture in 1962. The winner of Best Picture in 1961 happens to be one of my favorite musicals, West Side Story. So my chain is awards. This West Side Story song shows all the hope in your heart, "Something's Coming". I have chosen the incomparable Shirley Bassey for this link.

@thisbear
Last link was music from "Lawrence of Arabia". I don't have T.E. Lawrence's travel itinerary here but there is a good chance that he took the Night Boat To Cairo on his way to Arabia.

@djladylexie
Lawrence of Arabia – is a mewvie based on the life of Thomas Lawrence a british army officer in WWI. Annuva filum what we was reminded of with lawrence in the title is Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence about army officers held in a Japanese prisoner of war camp in WWII. Dis movie stars David Bowie. So we chooses da haunting theme from that movie by Ryuichi Sakamoto also know as Kyoto them (Sakamoto also starrted in the movie as Captain Yonoi).

An da winner ... as chosen by  .... @terenceterrier ...... dus be .............. @djladylexie aka me! Booo! Well done me! So dat mean dad dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot Terence said: I haz made my decishun. There were some cleva linkies and songs dis week. But I chooses linky numba 8 as my winna. It was a cleva linky and a luvvly toon ( and I denies being pressurised by mum who haz been doin rabbit-caught-in-headlights impersinayshun since she saw piccy of Bowie)..
