Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Eighty Ninth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 189 of #lexieschain. Oh, an remember mum dus be in Ibeefa right now so service be slightly erratic and a bit late at times ;). So last time was @claptonterrier wiv Ray of Light from Madge. So let's see wots we gots dis week:

@skye613
Welcome back Mr. Clapton and great tune to link to this week. My choice then is " There is a Light That Never Goes out" And why you ask did I chose this ? A ray can be described as a line with a starting point & no end. And light on a ray will never go out! BOL.

@smcheetham
Morning sorry missed last week well done Clapton with a winning link featuring Madonna. Madonna of course collaborated with Nile Rogers as both a writer and producer and thinking about that took us in an easy bound to Chic who have been playing all the festivals this summer. Here is an early video of them from 1977 playing Everybody Dance and when they do play this everybody does dance. Have a good week all.

@freddie_bt
Deres lots of difwent Rays, X-, Sting, Charles n of course da gweat Ray Illingworth but our favwite Ray is of da Davies variety. One of his most atmospheric songs captures dat particular beauty of fadin sunlight over da Thames n da crowds ignorin it's beauty n each other. Ere's da Kinks wiv a luvly arrangement of Waterloo Sunset fwom 1973.

@terenceterrier
Last week da moosik mistro Clapton winned wiv Madge n “Ray of Light” as his linky. Well everyfur knoes dat yoo gets rays of light from da sun so my linky be an oldie but a goodie “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles.

@diamondbertie
Clever @claptonterrier won with Ray of Light by Madonna. My choice has to be Ray Charles (Ray being the link) with his song Hit The Road Jack.

@wotterface
So, last week was Madonna with Ray of Light. Madonna worked with producer William Orbit a lot around this time. Planets orbit in space and David Bowie did a lot of stuff about space. David Bowie also started in the 80's film Labyrinth and our favourite bit from that is when Sarah meets the Fireys in the forest. So our pick this week is "Chilly Down" from Labyrinth. (Listen out for Danny John Jules doing vocals).

@maggietkat
Well done with the Madonna song. Madonna has transformed herself again and again during her career. Her role as Eva in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita was incredible. My link is Sir Andrew's musicals, specifically Sunset Boulevard and the song "As if we never said goodbye".

@bunnersandharvs
So we on to anuthur week fur Lexie's chainy and we so happy fur Clapton on his winnin linky last week 'Ray of Light' wot sung by Madonna. So whur dus we go frum here? Well, we thort if der wos rays of light, it must be bright which also means sumthing might be shining bright. And, did you know that Stars dus shine brightly? Well they dus and did you also know that Madonna been singing for ova 30 years? Well she has and so we figures that through dem Rays of Light she must also be counting her Lucky Stars! So our linky dis week is Madonna's 'Lucky Stars'. Good luck pal and we hopes TT has had a great ride too.

@djladylexie
Ere we goes then. Our songy dus be the ballad of pearl and john. Why? Well we gots Madonna wif Ray of Light. Madge recorded the song Ray of Light workin wiv english electronic producer and moosician William Orbit. Orbit went on to form the band Torch Song. A torch shines a beam of light too. Torches be pretty handy for seein fings. You can use torches underwater too when you go diving or snorkelling at night. A great place to dive or snorkel wiv a torch is in a lagoon. So we dus be choosing William OrbĂt's The Last Lagoon.

So da winner as decided by @claptonterrier is  .... @skye613 wiv There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smifs   .... Yay! Well done ma pal. You dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot CT said bowty it: We have been listening to all the choices this morning. There have been lots of clever linking and good choices this week but after long and careful deliberation we are selecting Linky No.1 as the winner - The Smiths and There is a Light that Never Goes Out. Its a jolly tune, with some slightly funny word which are both gloomy and optimistic in equal measure…anyhoo, we like the idea of a light that never goes out…brings hope to us all….(as long as it doesn’t interrupt valuable naps).

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 21st September 2014 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain dus be inspired by da pawsome Radcliffe & Maconie Show wot you can has a listen to on dere website. Follow me @dogstoyevsky or #lexieschain on Twitter to join da fun. Remember anyfink goes! Rock, classical, opera, ballads, punk, reggae - is up to you! Fanx for playin!
