Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Ninety Sixth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 196 of #lexieschain. Last week was Clapton wiv Don't Forget The Bridge by Five Blind Boys! Let us see what we gots dis week:

@djladylexie
We gowin with the bridge feem. Bridges can be roads over rivers and railways for cars to get over. Annuva type of bridge is one in music wot is a constrastin section wot prepares the song or music for the return of the original section. This usually eight or 32 bar.32 bar form was used a lot in rock an roll whereas 8 to the bar more your swing/big band type fing anof course the blues. So we choosin Key to the Highway (ha) from Eric Clapton wiv a song originally written by the most awesome Big Bill Broonzy.

@maggietkat
Well done, Clapton! Five Blind Boys were featured in the opening credits in Season 1 of "The Wire" covering "Way Down the Hole" by Tom Waits. My link is 'covering Waits' songs', so please enjoy Diana Krall covering "Temptation".

@smcheetham
Well done Clapton great choice. We missed last week but we are back this week. We have used Alabama as our link this week to take us to Alabama Shakes and Hold On love the combination of the guitars and the way she belts out the lyrics very enjoyable. So that's the link nice and simple.

@terenceterrier
Last week our little pal Clapton winned wiv “Don’t Forget The Bridge” by Five Blind Boys. Another black American artist who be blind is Stevie Wonder. Because it be close to Halloween I chooses his songy “Superstition” as my linky dis week.

@wotterface
Quite simple and straightforward this time. Going from the Blind Boys of Alabama to Blind Melon and No Rain. Just cos we like it.

@bunnersandharvs
So another teeeerific Linky last week wot wos by Clapton, Don't Forget the Bridge. We thort about love building bridges and not forgetting about dem too and dat you gots to cross den so dis gots us thinking about a song Mum used to luv which wos sung by Linda Ronstadt, Many Rivers to Cross. We dus hope you enjoy chooosin dis week Clapton.

@skye613
Hope I not to late! Congrats to Clapton, Well done chainy pal. The Blind Boys of Alabama have always produced beautiful bible based music that is traditional. In 2013 they released a new album featuring among other guest artists Patty Griffin. Griffin is a prolific song writer as well as a dynamic performer. My linky this week is a Patty Griffin cover " Moses" by Missy Higgins. Why you ask? Cause Patty wants some help crossing the river. Needs a bridge? he he.

An da winner as chosen by @claptonterrier dus be .....................................  Stella @smcheetham. Yay! Well done me pal. You dus be choosin next time.

Ere wot Clapyton saided: Oh Miss Lexie…it is IMPOSSIBLE to choose this week! All the links are brilliant!! We particularly enjoyed being reminded on the Blind Melon song with the bee girl in the video…and we are big Patti Griffin fans here (perhaps her original version might have won!!)…but we are going to choose Linky No.3 the Alabama Shakes as the winner…..its a very passionate song and we like that…but really everyone is the winner this week…*group hug*
