Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Sixtieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 260 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Terence wiv Heroes from David Bowie. Let's see what we got this week.

@claptonterrier
last week Terence very rightly chose a song by David Bowie….”Heroes” was one of the most famous songs from his Berlin period…..this week our link is a Leonard Cohen song….”First We take Manhattan”…wait?….what?…where is the link I hear you woofing…well the second line of the chorus is “then we’ll take Berlin”….we have chosen our version of the song by Jennifer Warnes..becasue we like it better than the original.

@izzy_border
So the winner last week was the amazing tune  Heroes by David Bowie. Now dis was released in the fabtastic year of 1977. In my mums life this was one of her best years (don't ask!!) so we decided to pick a tune from this year - but what? It was the year Fleetwood Mac released Rumours, one of the best albums ever. The best selling album of 1977 was Abba Arrival so we really wanted to go with Dancing Queen. But then the untimely death of Glen Frey of the Eagles came to mind. The track everyone equates with the Eagles is Hotel California and in fantastic Lexie chain symmetry this was number 1 in May 1977. So Hotel California it is!

@wotterface
Well done to T for winning last week with David Bowie and Heroes. A hero is someone who saved you so my choice this week is Turin Brakes with Underdog (Save Me).

@bunnersandharvs
So Ter won last week wid his linky by da hero David Bowie who sung Hero. And now dat he dus be gone it gots us thinking he a star now and not only a star but a shining star so dat our linky dis week by Earth Wind and Fire - Shining Star. No matter who you are....

@cloonfourmegan
Sir Terence won last week with Heroes. This was the song the GB team came out to in the 2012 Olympics. At the beginning of that wonderful Danny Boyle  opening ceremony we first saw Frank Turner complete with sheep dogs and one of the songs he sang was I Believe and we have liked him ever since!

@skye613
Heros come in every size, shape, nationality, color and gender. They are famous, infamous or known only to a select few. Each day a new one is born. Or we lose one. Have lost to many recently. I believe we all have the opportunity to become heros. My linky " Local Hero ".

@maggietkat
Well done Sir with David Bowie's "Heroes". One of Bowie's discoveries was Stevie Ray Vaughn after Double Trouble played Montreaux82. Bowie asked that Vaughn play lead on his Let's Dance album. this is one of Vaughn's compositions, Pride and Joy. Chain path? Bowie was hero of discovery for Vaughn who then became Bowie's protege/Pride and Joy.

@djladylexie
Terence won wiv Heroes from David Bowie. David Bowie and Brian Eno co-wrote the song which was released in 1977. Eno is known for his unusual and ambient music. Bowie starred in the movie The Man Who Fell to Earth. David Bowie. Interestingly in 2012, a documentary of Eno's life from 1971-1977 was released entitled The Man Who Fell To Earth. He also appears in Ride, Rise and Roar a documentary chronicling the songs of another great artists, David Byrne. So, I am going with a great Talking Heads number also released in 1977 - Psycho Killer.

@sonikebt
@TerenceTerrier chose a great winning link with "Heroes" by David Bowie. Our hero is the late Tony Benn and our link this week is one of his favourite songs "Joe Hill" sung by Joan Baez.

An da winner as choosed by Terence dus be ......................... Megan (@cloonfourmegan wiv Frank Turner and I Believe. Yay! Well done me pal you dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot Tel said: Wowser ! Wot a lot of cleva linkies dis week.  In da end I wittled da nine down to three – linky 1 “First We Take Manhatten” (admits to a penchant to Cohen songs) linky 2 “Hotel California” (could listen to da long guitar section at da end over n over all day cos it brill) and linky 5 “I Believe” (wot a happy lively bunch havin a good time ) . All 3 used good linky logic but in da end I choose linky 5 - Frank Turner wiv “I Believe” cos it made us smile n boogie abowt n sing along to it.
