Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Seventy Seventh Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 377 of Lexie's Chain. Last week da winner was Megan wiph. Let's see what we got dis week:

@diamondbertie
Well done with The Wombles song this popular series with catchy song hit our screens in the early 1970s, another series of a different family saga with a catchy introduction to hit our screens at more or less the same time was The Onedin Line.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week you did win wiv the Wombles and the Womble song Wombling Free.
Now as the Wombles do say they live on Wimbledon common. We did wonder if there were any other songs in which Wimbledon gets a name check and we found this from the late very great Ian Dury.

@skye614
The great DJ Lexie does win again with The Wombles. In 2011 The Wombles appeared at Glastonbury. The BBC curated a stage to showcase new talent. One of the acts on that stage in 2011 was Ed Sheeran, one of this year's biggest talents! Who knew?? Perhaps Eminem?  Enjoy Lexie's Dad!

@terenceterrier
Larst week Dame Lexie applied all her DJ skills n knowledge to come up wiv da winning linky wot be The Wombles and the Wombling Song. A Womble be a shy creature wot lives on Wimbledon Common n picks up litter n recycles it. I gonna follow da litter feem n I gives yoo "Litterbug" by Mr Eco ( Official Music Video) . Follow da advice pals cos yoo know it makes sense * save the planet ears.

@maggietkat
Well done Lexie with the Wombles and The Wombling Song. Wombles being a good sort live underground and deal with trash. There is another animal that lives underground and that’s a mole. However, the mole has another purpose which is used in chemistry. A mole is so popular, it even gets it's own day to celebrate!  Here is “The Mole Is a Unit”.

@limeoscar
Well done Lexie-pal for a Wombling free choice!  Now the musical rights to the Wombles were purchased by Mike Batt who is probably best known in recent years for his work with Katie Melua, so we could have gone with her for our linky but that does seem a little too obvious.  So we thought we would do a throwback to the 70’s as he also produced Steeleye Span 1795 album "All around my hat", so the title song of the same name does be our linky this week . . . for hoopeeps of a certain age to enjoy again!

@sonikebt
Well done Lexie for winning with “The Wombling Song” by Mike Batt. The Wombles were fictional, pointy nosed, furry creatures. Our link this week is from a fictional, pointy-nosed, spikey creature who is inarguably the best games character ever. “Sonic: His World” - Zebrahead ver.

An da winner ............ as chosened by me dad ..................... dus be ..............................  Maggie! Nice one init! So you dus be choosin next week Maggie me pal.

Ere wot me dad said: Well, I hear there may have been some casting of aspersions in relation to my musical tastes ..... humph. Seriously though I thought these were all good links. Of course, I love boats as you probably know so I really liked that link whether it was intended or not. Love a bit of Eminem too. Oh and the Sonic one was excellent, love a bit of Sonic. However , we always have a laugh at Lex sniffing all the molehills in the park nearby. So I think I will pick the mole one. Well done!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Seventy Sixth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 376 of Lexie's Chain. Last week da winner was Megan wiph. Let's see what we got dis week:

@maggeitkat
Well done Oscar with Ellla Eyre's Swing Low Sweet Chariot Eyre sang this at the Rugby World Cup. This song has always been one of my favorite spirituals, the somber melody with meaningful words. My other favorite female singer who sang a classic song at a world event is kd lang. This is lang featured at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics closing ceremonies  singing “Hallelujah”.

@djladylexie
Dis song is a secrt code .. it ain't about chariots at all but is about the struggly to end slavery. This and uvva songs was called underground railroad songs, none of which was about bein underground or the railroads we as discovered. I like the idea of bein underground mind you. Bit like the wombles did. They liked being boaf underground and overground, womblin free in fact. Oh ..... well there you go! Me linky be done.

@terenceterrier
Larst week da winning chainy be Ella Eyre wiv "Swing Low Sweet Chariot " wot be da England Rugby song. So I finks duss I go wiv a linky wot be abowt da England Football team ?  Nah ! Dat be too predictable. I gonna be unpredictable n keep da sporting theme but go wiv a tennis song ( yup there rilly iz one) and gives yoo "Unpredictable " by Olly Murs and Louisa Johnson.

An da winner ............ as chosened by Oscar ..................... dus be ..............................  oh noes is me again!! So me dad dus be choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot me Oscar said: Ooh . . . they may be few but still mighty diverse options dis week.  After much deliberashuns we has chosen Linky 2, coz I did get to snuggle on hoomum’s lap whilst she reminisced about da luffly Wombley peeps and I duz like bimbling free  . . . zat the same as Wombiln free? 🤔

@terenceterrier
Larst week Dame Megan winned wiv Techno Chicken. At da rave fingies where dey play dis moosik often there be repawts of peeps taking norty substances. When sumwun try to go wivowt da drug dey be sed to be doing cold turkey. Turkey be a member of da poultry gang like da chikkin. Anyhows back to my linky wot be John Lennon live in New York City and "Cold Turkey" .

@maggietkat
Well done with “Techno Chicken”. This was a theme for Dominoes' Pizza in Australia.  I decided to celebrate the land down under with one of the top songs associated with Australia, a song about a dying rancher who wants to make sure his Ranch has care takers. The is Rolf Harris with “Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport”.

@limeoscar
Well, what a win from Dame Megan!  Techno Chiggins no less . . . so chicken make some people of Nando’s and they have a strange connection to music in that they opened a music studio in Soho at the start of this year.  It’s aim is to opportunity and support to budding artists and among those to mentor are Stormzy and Ella Eyre no less.  We therefore gives you a track recorded by Miss Eyre for the 2015 Rugby World Cup with England Rugby as we are sure that those beefy rugby lads eat lots of chicken for protein to build them up!

@djladylexie
Mmmmm chicken nom nom. Best fing you can do wiv a chicken? Cover it in reggae reggae sauce an eat it. Best reggae song about chickens? Best Dressed Chicken in Town by Dr Alimantado. Cluck cluck shabba!

An da winner ............ as chosened by Megan  ..................... dus be ..............................  Oscar Yay again me pal!! So you dus be choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot me Megan said: It was very difficult to find a link to the amazing Techno Chickens. I did like all the references to noms and I lubs a Nandos and learnt something new about them so I does pick

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Seventy Fourth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 374 of Lexie's Chain. Last week da winner was me wiph Gladys Knight an the Pips. Let's see what we got dis week:

@maggietkat
Well. Done Lex with Gladys Knight and the Pips. When I think of Gladys Knight I think of their hit “Midnight Train the Georgia”.  I love trains but they disappearing.  This song written by Steve Goodman describes the love, lore and longing for trains; turned into a hit for Arlo Guthrie and Willie Nelson. Here is Arlo doing “City of New Orleans”. His opening remarks described how he was introduced to the song.

@terenceterrier
Larst week Dame Lexie winned wiv "You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" by Gladys Knight and The Pips. Dis woz a 70's hit. For my linky I duss a nifty little side step to a title wot convey da same message - "You Are My World" by Cilla Black. Corse dis woz a 60's hit so to tie in wiv da same decade as da previous linky I gives yoo a live vershun - Cilla live at The Royal Albert Hall on 13 January 1973.

@limeoscar
Pawsome win from Dame L with Gladys Knight and her pips . . . and talking of Knights does make us think of the musicians who have been knighted, and there are some amazing ones to choose from!  But we picked Sir Tom Jones with his hit 'You can leave your hat on’ which he covered it in 1997 for the British film The Full Monty, coz it seemed pretty topical with the Stand Up 2 Cancer that’s been on the tv box.  So here he is with his belting set of welsh pipes from The Voice performance last year (no nudity involved 😳) . . .

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Lexie won wiv Gladys Knight and her Pips. Now doing our research for the Linky we did find that Gladys’ son did set up Chicken and Waffles Restaurants in Atlanta. So in honour of that we does choose Techno Chickens!

claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week our song was a winner by Lady Knight….i am entering this week with a wild throw of the dice (not dominoes)…so what will be will be….BOL….our entry this week is Que Sera Sera..by Doris Day! See what I did there….? …well, it was almost funny…

An da winner ............ as chosened by me dad  ..................... dus be .............................. Megan wiv techno chickens! Yay! So you dus be choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot me dad said:  I ...........  can't ...............resist ................... the technooooooooooooooooooooooo
